Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Atef Alam Eldin, President of East Port Said National University, and as part of the University's commitment to supporting outstanding students, encouraging their participation in scientific and research events, and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, a team of students from the University participated in the AI Hackathon, held as part of the First International Conference on Innovations and Applications of Artificial Intelligence (ICIAAI 2026), organized by the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Damietta University. The conference brought together participants from universities across Egypt, along with leading researchers, experts, and specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and innovation. The University's team qualified to compete in the Hackathon, which featured strong competition among student teams from various Egyptian universities across multiple tracks related to artificial intelligence applications. The team presented an innovative project that demonstrated the students' ability to leverage AI technologies to develop practical solutions to real-world challenges, contributing to community development and supporting sustainable development goals. The team's participation was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed El-Sakka, Director of the Mechatronics and Automation Engineering Program, Dr. Asmaa Rady Ahmed, Director of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Engineering Program, with the participation of Eng. Abdelrahman Farouk, Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Engineering. Commenting on the participation, Prof. Dr. Atef Alam Eldin, President of the University, emphasized that students' involvement in such specialized scientific events reflects the University's vision of preparing graduates who are capable of innovation and creativity. He noted that the University places great importance on supporting talented students and providing an inspiring academic environment that enables them to develop their ideas into innovative technological solutions with meaningful societal and economic impact. He further stated that the University is committed to encouraging its students to participate in scientific competitions and research activities, as these provide valuable opportunities to gain practical experience, develop technical and research skills, strengthen teamwork, and foster creativity, ultimately preparing them to compete successfully in both local and international job markets. This participation reflects East Port Said National University's strategic commitment to promoting innovation, advancing scientific research, and aligning educational outcomes with the needs of sustainable development and the labor market, in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
